Prologue

Man, versus wolf, they are both hungry and both trying to survive, Carl Evans the antagonist. A large bully and self-appointed lawman for the townspeople. Larger than a normal pack of ten gray wolves. The pack leader a pure white large male called Nitis meaning "friend" in the Native American language. Steven Carson raised Nitis, he found him stumbling around near the wolves' den. Hunters slaughtered the parents and siblings.

Steven found the pup a few days before it could even see, they are born blind and when he started to see for the first time Steven appeared before him.

A strong bond developed; they hunted together and taught each other. After two years, Nitis found a pack of his own. He quickly took over the role of pack leader "Alpha male".

The lack of wild animals caused the pack to enter housing areas, attack, and kill people for food.

The weariness and fear wolves had for people had disappeared with hunger.
